Wearing my whole closet: Week 1

Hello for the first time in 2023! This month I am in a challenge over on Instagram to wear as much of our closets as we can in January. You know how you pick the same 5-10 items out over and over again? Especially when the weather is kinda dreary? We are trying to reach for more items and build more creative outfits to start the year. Here’s what I wore this week!

2022 recap: My year of taking fashion seriously, trying to buy more fun, and being told my style sucked

As I wrote early in 2022, my style resolution for the year was to have a bit more fun with my closet and stop buying only neutrals. But my style goal kind of took on a life of its own and what I really ended up doing was seeking out and learning a lot more about the fashion/trend industry this year. Here, I share some concluding thoughts for 2022, along with my favorite outfits of the year!

Review of the Allbirds Pipers

I have been testing out Allbirds cutest casual shoe, the piper, for a couple weeks now. I think they’re a perfect chill white sneaker that goes with dresses and can dress down my business clothes as well. Here is my review of the Allbirds Pipers. I talk sizing, review their comfort & support level, and how they compare to other Allbirds favorites–the tree dashers and runners! Plus, I have a coupon code for you if you want a discount!

A search for festive, flat holiday shoes

I posted to Instagram this week asking for help finding a shoe I can wear to holiday parties. My requirements are pretty annoying: I don’t like to wear heels, but I still want something shiny or sparkly that feels festive. Thankfully, you all delivered on great suggestions, so I thought I would round them up here for anyone else looking!

My fall/winter closet updates of 2022

Sometimes the season changes without incident. Other times, I have a full closet crisis. Here’s what I’ve bought and what I’m still looking for.

My 2022 Stitch Fix Review + get $20 off

This month I tried a Stitch Fix box–it seemed like a good way to get some new back to school teacher clothes and update my style for 2022. I have tried Stitch Fix in the past, but it’s been about 5 years, so I thought we could use a review of how the boxes are now. I’ll talk about the brands I received, the average price of items in my box, and if I think it was worth it, below!

Back to school shopping for grad students and professors: Athleta

Welcome back to back-to-school shopping for college teachers! Today we’re going somewhere a bit unexpected: Athleta. Athleta makes activewear, yes, but they also make some pretty nice sweatproof and wrinkle-free clothing that can pass as casual office style. If you’re a professor or grad student who is about to teach in late summer weather I think they should be on your list. Here’s what I tried on!

Back to school shopping for grad students and professors continues: Target try-ons!

Welcome back to back-to-school shopping for college teachers! When I was shopping for teaching clothes as a new grad student, I also lived in a very small town. This made it hard to find things secondhand and meant we didn’t have most name-brand stores. One store we did have, however, was Target! Target has some decent work clothing if you’re willing to dig around a bit. Here’s what I tried on and how I would style it to go back to school as a new college teacher.

6 things I actually wear when it’s 100 degrees out

I have a really hard time figuring out what to wear when it’s 100 degrees out (or more). The truth is no clothing seems reasonable for extremely hot weather, and most sources of fashion inspo don’t account for these temperatures. So here are some outfits and closet essentials that I am actually wearing for high summer.
