Fortress of Inca Boots Review

Last year I made a round up of ethical and sustainable fashion brands that make tall sizes. And there was a glaring issue with the list: no size 11 and 12 (and beyond!) shoes. I have been on the hunt ever since and am so happy to find Fortress of Inca. They make a wide range of classic styles (boots, mules, flats) and are committed to fair trade practices. AND, they’re launching size 11 shoes this month! So here’s a review of their Elise ankle boots and a hint about what styles are about to be in the extended range!

Boody Wear Review: Sustainable Activewear and Underwear

Boody wear leggings and activewear review

I have been trying the Boody padded shaper bra and underwear for a few months, and now have had the chance to try their new leggings and activewear. Everything by Boody is made with bamboo–a sustainable material–and it’s all been really well suited to my stay at home life in 2020. Here is my review and thoughts on sizing, comfort, and how the new activewear survived my workout test.

Brass summer try-ons

It’s probably not a secret at this point that Brass makes my favorite ethical workwear and business casual clothing. With many items under $100, they’re also one of the better priced ethical fashion companies if you’re new to trying to buy from better brands. I’ve reviewed a bunch of Brass before and am back because most of my summer buys have come from them this year, too! Here are reviews and try ons of the drift knit, all day shorts, high neck shell, and all day culottes.

A review of all the Everlane Day Glove flat styles: are they comfy, true to size, and how they compare to Rothy’s

All the questions listed in the title of this blog post were my exact questions when considering the reknit version of Everlane’s popular Day Glove flat. I saw them on the website several times and didn’t give much thought to them until I got wedding shoes on the brain and there was a blush version. I have since tried several styles in the day glove line looking for just the right flats: the original leather day glove, the reknit day glove, the mesh day glove, and the day ballet flat. So here are all my thoughts on the Day Glove: how they fit, if they’re true to size, if they’re comfortable, how they compare to Rothy’s, how they compare to the leather day glove and mesh version, and, yes, if I kept them for my wedding. Phew!

A Review of the Universal Standard Mystery Box

I wrote last month that I’ve had a Universal Standard dress on my wish list, specifically the Geneva dress. The colors are so good and the coverage looks perfect for work. There are certainly more scientific ways to get the dress (like, directly buying the dress), but when I saw that Universal Standard was doing a “mystery box” promo I found myself totally willing to gamble to get the dress for less money: the dresses mystery box was $90. So, being a pretty bad minimalist, I hit add to cart really fast. Here is my unboxing of the Universal Standard Mystery Box, the reveal of the dresses I got, if I’ll be keeping them or not, and whether I think the box was worth it!

It’s the little things: Reviews of 5 (physically) small wardrobe accessories I’ve been loving

Boody Wear Review

One thing about being on a clothing budget that I don’t like so much is that it makes me want to make “big impact” purchases. I love instant gratification, and compliments. In my opinion, the things that make the biggest splash in those categories are dresses and cool shirts, so, no surprise, those are the things I love browsing for the most. Taking a step back from shopping has meant thinking more about purchases that will make a difference to how I feel and not just how I look. So here are reviews of accessories and wardrobe basics that aren’t as “flashy” that have really made a difference in my closet (including some trendy internet-only brands like ThirdLove, Boodywear, Thinx, and Bombas).

Everlane oversized alpaca crew versus cashmere crew review

Everlane cashmere crew and alpaca oversized crew review

I have two new colorful sweaters to get through the last of the chilly temperatures–the Everlane cashmere crew and the oversized alpaca crew. Before I owned them, I was pretty torn about which to pick, so I thought I would compare them side-by-side for anyone who feels similarly, and talk about sizing, if they’re itchy, quality, and warmth! Spoilers: I kept both. But let’s get into what I recommend each for!

Brass Clothing Reviews: Every Brass piece I own!

If you’ve been looking for ethical and sustainable work clothes I think you should look no further than Brass. They’re a fairly affordable ethical clothing brand and their pieces are more tailored than other brands. Plus, they have inclusive sizing, and tall sizes, so I have had more luck with them–making them a good Everlane alternative. I’ve reviewed a lot of Brass on this blog so I thought I would compile it all in one place–from the Brass Ponte Pant to the Essential Dress to everything in between–here are my reviews and photos of every Brass Clothing item I own, my advice for finding Brass on sale, and a little discount code!

Everlane reviews–what I’ve bought lately

More Everlane has been quietly creeping into my closet lately. I say quietly because I haven’t reviewed any of it. Heck, some of it doesn’t get photographed. Not because I don’t think it’s blog-worthy, but because the best Everlane items, in my opinion, feel like I’ve owned them for years and become part of my instant closet rotation. So, here are reviews of those MVPs–including the women’s skinny stretch denim, the Tread trainer, the reknit glove boot, and the Alpaca crew!

Reviews: Products I bought to solve problems and whether they worked or not

Well, that’s a long winded title, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do in todays post! So much of marketing exists to convince us we have a problem we can buy our way out of. Most of these claims are overstated. Some of them turn out to be kind of true. Here are some problems I’ve tried to address lately and reviews of the products that accompanied my crusade against them…

Problem: Dry cleaning bills.
