My name is Rebecca–I am an assistant professor who happens to love clothes. In my academic career, I am interested in how embodiment and the material world impact our interpretations and sense of belonging in organizations. But I think personal style is also something we bring to work everyday that communicates about our identity and goals!
I started PhD in Clothes after a search for “what to wear in graduate school” turned up surprisingly few current results. Representation at the “professor style” level was even sparser (think: all elbow patches and tweed). Now, I blog about productivity, work-life balance, professionalism, authenticity and style on the academic career path. Because style isn’t frivolous–it’s communicative!
