My fall/winter closet updates of 2022

Sometimes the season changes without incident. Other times, I have a full closet crisis. This year I’m dealing with the latter–just a struggle to get dressed, some obvious closet holes, and a feeling that a few items no longer suit me. So, I’ve made some closet updates this fall! Here’s what I’ve bought and what I’m still looking for.

What I’ve bought:

Fun sneakers

I have white sneakers and black sneakers, but I wanted a pair that is more of a color pop–something that adds a funky and sporty element to what I’m wearing. I went with the Nike Cortez. They come in a ton of colors (also check out the Waffle One for more options). I found this pair brand new secondhand for $50 and have been reaching for them every day!

A teddy coat

Sometimes my jean jacket isn’t quite enough of a layer, but a puffy jacket is too much. I am glad I finally relented and got a fuzzy jacket for days when I want to feel cozy yet interesting. One thing I notice is often missing from my closet is texture. Just one item with texture can really add to any outfit!

Pleather pants

Omg, what have I done. I just couldn’t resist these pants, again, for texture. They wear just like jeans but add so much more to any outfit! And with a straight leg fit they don’t look too over-the-top sexy (especially with a big blazer or sweater).

This pair is really nice feeling (I went with my normal size), or there are budget pairs all over the place right now.

A jeans update

Ok, I bought these jeans on mega-sale in July (they’re still on sale), but now that it’s cool enough, I’m finally wearing them and actually loving them. It’s still really hard for me to get over that they don’t make me look as skinny as possible, but I am trying my best to throw that negative thought right out the window and wear the comfy jeans. I love them with an ankle boot!

What’s still on my list!

This is quite a big closet update for me to undertake at once, so I’m trying to chill out and enjoy styling my new items for a while before venturing into a thrift store. I would still like a pair of tall boots (it’s so hard to find the right fit and a low heel, I think!

I’m also considering maybe a slip on shoe for winter (I must not buy the low uggs…I must not buy the low uggs…ok I might though). Perhaps a slip on loafer?
