5 Leopard Skirt Outfit Ideas

I have really loved my leopard midi skirt–I bought it last fall and have worn it many ways since then! At first, I only wore it with white or black t shirts, but I’ve been surprised by how versatile it is. My skirt is a slip skirt but I think these would work well with any length, including mini skirts or pencil skirts. The trick is figuring out what colors to pair with leopard and how to layer items for added interest! Here are some outfit ideas for both winter and summer!

Style shifts for 2021: More Color

As I recently wrote, I’m trying to go into 2021 by more intentionally noticing what I like in my closet and, when I (hopefully infrequently!) shop, aligning my purchases with those trends. The second style shift I’ve noticed recently is that I am reaching for more colors and have started putting more colorful items together! My second style goal this year is to embrace more color, so here’s some style inspo I’ve pinned and what’s on my wishlist!

Work from home outfits for when you’re stuck in a leggings rut

Hello hello and welcome to no leggings January. My friend Renee and I have challenged ourselves to give our leggings a break and work from home in *gasp* real pants. I’ve been semi-faithfully taking mirror selfies so: here are a bunch of work from home outfits that are comfortable but do not involve leggings!

Adding Jewel Tones to My Capsule Wardrobe

When I started a capsule wardrobe 8 years ago I had every color ever in my closet. As I cleaned it out and assessed what I actually liked to wear I discovered the magic of only buying stuff that is versatile and goes together. As a result, I ended up with a closet of highly mixable neutrals. Lately, however, I have really felt the need for a color boost. So here is the one colorful thing I’ve added to my closet lately, a teal silk tank top, and a bunch of ideas for mixing and matching strong colors with a neutral capsule wardrobe.

7 easy outfits for extreme summer heat

Just like midwesterners get sick of winter, we in Nevada get very, very tired of summer. Is it over yet?! Nope, not for at least another month. I have created some easy outfits lately for dealing with hot temperatures when you still want to feel put together. It’s hard to pick out summer outfits because the “third piece” rule (add a third item to an outfit to make it cool!) is just out the window. So, here are my recent attempts at layering that makes me feel like it’s early fall, without overheating.

Do you buy yourself a birthday present?

On a ten point scale of the enjoyment adulthood provides, I would give a 1 to having to schedule my own doctor’s appointments and a 3 to paying my AC bill in August. But I have to give a solid 10 to my favorite thing I’ve done the past couple years: buying my own birthday present. Is it vain, selfish, silly? Maybe. It’s also delightful. There are no rules for adult birthdays (except that the stress of planning a birthday usually outweighs the fun of having one) so why not buy your own present?!? Here are the self-birthday presents I considered this year, just for fun.

Everlane reviews–what I’ve bought lately

More Everlane has been quietly creeping into my closet lately. I say quietly because I haven’t reviewed any of it. Heck, some of it doesn’t get photographed. Not because I don’t think it’s blog-worthy, but because the best Everlane items, in my opinion, feel like I’ve owned them for years and become part of my instant closet rotation. So, here are reviews of those MVPs–including the women’s skinny stretch denim, the Tread trainer, the reknit glove boot, and the Alpaca crew!

Easy winter outfits with skirts

It’s not *quite* freezing yet so I’m enjoying some in-between dressing right now, and I’ve made quite a few outfits with midi skirts and sweaters this month! This is an easy winter outfit idea for work and it has definitely become a habit of mine. Here are four midi skirt and sweater combos I’ve been enjoying:
