How do you celebrate yourself?

I’ve recently come to the understanding that I am pretty bad at celebrating professional accomplishments. Academic life is a long stream of asking “are we there yet” about your research, so I believe it’s important to schedule some stop points for joy. Which leads me to ask: How do you celebrate yourself??

Work from home outfits for when you’re stuck in a leggings rut

Hello hello and welcome to no leggings January. My friend Renee and I have challenged ourselves to give our leggings a break and work from home in *gasp* real pants. I’ve been semi-faithfully taking mirror selfies so: here are a bunch of work from home outfits that are comfortable but do not involve leggings!

Brass summer try-ons

It’s probably not a secret at this point that Brass makes my favorite ethical workwear and business casual clothing. With many items under $100, they’re also one of the better priced ethical fashion companies if you’re new to trying to buy from better brands. I’ve reviewed a bunch of Brass before and am back because most of my summer buys have come from them this year, too! The search for reasonable work clothes: My absolute-most-comfortable business casual clothing (and the stuff that didn’t work out)

Do you track how often you wear clothes? I do in Cladwell and I really enjoy it. The app lets me know when I haven’t worn something in 3 months by putting a dot next to it, and it shows me my most worn items. I’ve learned a lot from tracking how many times I wear things, so today I thought I would share my greatest hits and misses from 2019. Here are my best women’s work clothing purchases of the year and what landed in the giveaway pile.

What I wore to my winter work conference

I love a good work conference packing list, and it seems like you guys do, too, so here are all of my conference outfits from my recent trip! Academic conference dress codes can be hard to decode so I like to hang out at the sweet spot of comfortable and polished. The power of good clothes is important for me when I’m dealing with conference jitters (especially because at academic conferences you are often presenting, eek!). So, here’s what I wore, plus a list of extras that I always make sure to pack in my bag.
