What I wore: February

Need some winter teaching outfit ideas? I don’t have many, it turns out, but here’s what I wore this month as a professor!

Something trendy + some classics

Cargo pants: not just for Gen Z. I love any and all fun pants so I had to try them, but this J. Crew pair is definitely for grown ups!

Flats

Revisit an old favorite

I used to wear this blazer very frequently but haven’t been grabbing it this year. It’s not as dramatic as 2023 blazers, but that’s exactly why I’ve kept it around–also it fits perfectly, and I kind of have a rule that if I once absolutely loved it, it should go into storage instead of being donated. I made it feel fresh with my newest jeans and chunkier boots.

Blazer: same color, closer in shape (similar)

Tee (15% off with code PHDINCLOTHES)

Pants

Waterproof boots

Monochrome

A light beige outfit felt refreshing after all the black I wear. I tend to think of tan as a summer color but it was cozy enough with a turtleneck!

Jacket old from Long Tall Sally

Top (highly recommend browsing outdoor companies for great winter layers!)

Belt

Pants

Sneakers

Copenhagen inspired

I couldn’t escape TikToks this month about Copenhagen fashion week, and although it was freezing, all the street style was fun, layered, and whimsical. This is as close as I got!

Fuzzy jacket: lower profile, budget friendly

Add sporty to business casual

If I may be proud for a moment: I made this t shirt! This was another day of me following the fashion advice “pick the wrong shoe.” The “right” shoe for this business outfit was probably a ballet flat so adding a colorful sneaker mixed it up (also, my walks across campus are long this semester, so sneakers are always on rotation!).

Blazer

Tee (similar)

Necklace (similar)

Pants (old, but now I want this linen blend pair for spring!)

Sneakers

It’s been a busy but good month so I’m hanging in there and snapping outfit photos when I can. Hope you’re doing well!

  1. Yes to storing past faves for my future self! (I learned this the hard way…).

Love this week’s monochrome look – the lighter tones evoke a sense of warmer weather (it’s coming, I hope!)
