We just hit our first heatwave in parts of the US, and you may find yourself wondering what the heck to wear when it’s above 90 degrees (or 100…or 110 if you are desert dweller like me!). Dressing cute when it’s way too hot out is a tough challenge, even worse if you need office outfits. Here are some hot weather outfits and what I’m buying to feel fashionable in Summer 2026.

Add some jewelry
If every “summer fashion” pin on Pinterest is causing you to roll your eyes, it’s probably because a lot of influencer fashion suggests you wear layers. Are they mad?!? There’s no way I’m draping a sweater over my shoulders in June.
The best substitute for layers when making hot weather outfits is jewelry. Jewelry acts like a layer and can steer your outfit in all kinds of different directions! A couple picks I’ve bought so far:
This long necklace (I like the black, which adds a lot of contrast and some visual weight to my looks)
This necklace (somehow ties all silver and gold jewerly together!)
Indoor layers

Despite my yelling about layers above, the AC is freezing in the summer, especially in my office building, so some light layers are in order. I throw them in my car and grab them when I’m headed somewhere cold! A few I am eyeing:
This linen sweater (this is so lovely, 100% linen, I just got it!)
This cropped shirt jacket (the summer version of a trench coat imo)
This shirt (it’s giant, I love it)
Throw on and go dresses

I love a sundress in the summer; they are easily the best breathable option when it’s sweltering out. There are two I currently grab at least once a week:
Swishy jersey (I’ve worn it to work, art openings, and dinner dates! Also, a more budget-friendly version)
Mixed materials (a big trend right now, I love how cool the cotton skirt feels! This one is under $50)
PS: summer is also my favorite time to try different sunglasses shapes. If you have any favorite places to buy them, please advise!!
I’ve been thinking about hot weather outfits ever since I moved to Vegas–the heat doesn’t get easier, but dressing during a heatwave has drastically improved since I integrated these tips!
