Is Spanx making the best office pants? A Spanx pants review

spanx pants reviews

Spanx makes clothing now–and I’ve never owned their shapewear, but I did find myself curious and decided it was time for a Spanx pants review. Could they be the solution to comfortable work pants that look good? If you are wondering if Spanx pants are comfortable, how they fit, or how to find them on sale, here are my thoughts. Today, I’ll review the Perfect Fit, Air Essentials, and Stretch Twill pants.

Heads up–I am a Spanx affiliate. I was gifted credit, which I used to purchase the perfect pants and the air essentials. I had some credit when I bought the stretch twill pants, but paid mostly out of pocket. I wasn’t asked to write a Spanx pants review, and all opinions are mine!

Spanx PerfectFit Pants

The Spanx perfect pant, now called the PerfectFit Ponte pant, come in a variety of shapes. They have the classic leggings fit that made them viral, but I think the best shapes are the perfect flare and the perfect wide leg pant. I own the flare (and am eagerly awaiting the wide leg pant during some sale weekend).

The perfect pants are the quintessential “holds you in” pant. They have a lining under the top part of the pants that is supposed to be tummy control. I don’t find this to be restricting, and, even better, it conceals shirts when you tuck them in so they don’t make weird lines (always a problem with ponte pants).

In terms of fit, they are true to size. I chose a medium tall, I’m a size 6/8, and 5’11”. The different inseams are a huge plus–the tall size is loooong!

Spanx AirEssentials Pique

Spanx Air Essentials Review

The Air Essentials pants, as featured on every blogger ever, are just as good as everyone claims. I tried the air essentials pique pair this month and I promptly wore them…once a week or more. They are sweats, but they are definitely lighter, so they work as comfy athleisure pants in the summer. I would say they are perfect for travel (chilly airport but can stand on the curb waiting for an Uber). I wouldn’t wear them for a full day outside, however.

These are also true to size. I picked the medium long. I am so into them I’ll probably buy the original pair soon!

PerfectFit Twill Pants

Finally, I recently bought the stretch twill cropped wide leg pant. These were a fan favorite and they brought them back revamped this year. They claim to be warm weather friendly for the office: I would say this is true unless you truly spend a lot of time walking between buildings in like, July. The fabric feels cool to the touch.

The fit is true to size. However, like every cut of similar pants (for those of you who owned the Madewell Emmett pants or Kamm pants), they do get some lines across the hip. I obsessively read every review of this pair and it appeared to be happening on everyone, regardless of sizing up or not.

The best part of these pants is by far the front pockets. They have a zipper!! And they are large enough for a phone. I think these would make excellent Euro trip summer travel pants for this reason.

Does Spanx ever go on sale?

Let’s face it, these pants are a bit of a splurge, all ringing up at over $100. Because of this, I have found myself googling “spanx sale” repeatedly. Here’s what I have found: on most US holiday weekends, there’s a sale on the website. Over Memorial Day, for example, they added many new cuts to the sale section, and on Black Friday there was a $50 off orders of $200 or more promo.

There are some things that rarely go on sale, namely, any pair of these pants in their classic colors (black and red). But, they have branched out into a lot of color options and those often end up in the sale section, so check back if you find a pair you like and they’ll usually end up there!

That’s my Spanx pants review! Have you tried any Spanx clothing? What else catches your eye?
