An unrealistically large back-to-school shopping list

I miss the days of back to school shopping–picking a new backpack in elementary school, or a new set of string lights in college. It just doesn’t hit the same when it’s your own bank account. Nevertheless, the teaching wardrobe can start to feel a bit…bleh after a while, and a back to school infusion of energy is welcome. Here are some clothes for teachers that I’m excited about!

Clockwise from the top:

This Kotn skirt has been calling to me for months–the piping just looks sharp.

Finding tops to go under blazers is tough, here are a few: red tank top, burgundy ribbed top, button down (this is convertible! You can take the bottom part off–love the option to have 2 different lengths).

I don’t know why I need silver sneakers, but I feel they would jazz up every teaching outfit.

Many of you requested comfortable flats for walking across campus. These red flats are just that–I already have the point-toe version and am slowly replacing all my flats with Birdies!

I know I don’t need another Madewell tote but this one is a perfect combo of summer vibes and a fall color. I love the texture! Ugh, I’m talking myself into it.

This olive jumpsuit is such a sophisticated one-and-done teaching outfit. It would layer beautifully with a blazer and it’s on super sale!

I have been very into silver jewelry lately, and this cuff bracelet would be the perfect pop for any outfit.

These wide leg pants are just excellent. I tried them in-store, and they are legs for days status. And they come in tall, plus, and petite sizes.

  1. I’m on site in a center for kids birth to 5 a few days a week and I think the silver sneakers would be amazing! I’ve already decided that jumpsuits are my new uniform (machine washable, goes with sneakers). I’m aiming for short sleeved jumpsuits so I can layer with turtlenecks and boots in the winter, but have enough of a covered arm in the summer. A quick shoe change can make a jumpsuit dressier as needed. I’m also into midi dresses for the same reason.

  2. I tried to post and I think my comment got eaten by the blog-sphere! But feel free to delete if it becomes a duplicate. I am going from part time (high school/middle school) to full time teacher this year so my wardrobe needs to expand a bit. I have made some plans to sew several things to expand my wardrobe. So fabrics have been bought and washed, now on to the sewing!
