Universal Standard clothing review: My thoughts on their jeans and tees!

If you’ve checked out Universal Standard before you know they have a unique size chart serving women’s sizes 00-40, which is awesome size inclusivity! But how do their clothes run and what’s the quality like? Here is my review so far, with a special focus on their jeans! Plus, a little discount code for you.

Universal Standard has unique sizing. Their size Medium is a women’s size 18, and sizes work up and down from there. I wear a 2XS (size 6-8) in most Universal Standard clothing. I find that most things run true to size, and their sizing notes (under each item description) and reviews are reliable when making buying decisions.

I own two pairs of Universal Standard denim (btw, everything in this post is gifted, but thoughts are my own and they didn’t ask me to write this review). Both pairs of jeans I wear come in multiple inseams, which makes the brand both petite and tall friendly in my opinion! However, their tallest inseam is a 33-inch, which isn’t, unfortunately, all that tall.

Curve straight jeans: The Donna jeans are my new go-to straight leg pair of denim. They look chic with everything and the look does not reveal their best kept secret which is that they are extremely comfy. Stretchy, they don’t dig into my waist…I love these for the office.

High rise straight leg jeans: The Etta jeans are also extremely soft and comfy. I find the washes and cut look more vintage on these jeans, but otherwise, I don’t see much of a difference between these two pairs.

Do Universal Standard jeans run true to size? Yes, I think so, but they air on the side of slightly big because of the stretch. The Donna jeans, in particular, have reviews suggesting you size down. But I picked a 2XS in both pairs and find them comfy, but not baggy. It depends on how sleek you want to feel!

Another category I love is their t shirts! Omg they are extremely soft, almost like jersey. I would not describe them as structured or as a classic cotton feel, but if you want a soft, drapey layer, they are for you.

Are there any other Universal Standard items you have your eye on? I love their workwear and the fun, bright colors they have, so this is probably going to be my new go-to for wardrobe staples!

  1. I’ve heard so many great things about Universal Standard, especially their size inclusivity, and your review just confirms it! It’s awesome to know they provide multiple inseam lengths for both petite and tall women, though I agree, 33 inches could be a bit longer for us taller folks. The Donna jeans sound like a dream – comfy and chic for the office! Also, their soft t-shirts are calling my name; I love a good drapey tee. Thanks for the detailed review and the discount code, I’ll definitely check them out!
