Once a year, I get a DM asking me to suggest comfortable women’s shoes for teachers. We have a long wishlist: arch support, no blisters, easy to stand on your feet all day, and actually stylish. If only the shoe industry would actually listen. Here are 5 pairs of women’s shoes that don’t suck for professors or teachers.
Comfortable flats

Ballet flats are everywhere these days, but that doesn’t mean they feel great, especially for an 8-hour teaching day. I recently bought this pair from Camper, and they are soooo soft. They are my top choice if your main teaching shoe concern is blisters. Plus, they come in funky and fun colors!
Camper does run 1/2 size small!
Comfortable loafers

I cannot believe I’m recommending these to you as a comfortable women’s work shoe. Anything patent just screams uncomfortable to me, but after reading the reviews, I knew I had to try these patent loafers. They are, surprisingly, amazing. There’s a little heel cushion built in that is a really nice touch. The arch support is good, not great.
Comfortable…heels??

If you are tired of boring shoe choices, I have been singing the praises of these butterfly heels online! These are perfect if you’re looking for loud or whimsical teacher style. Yes, the “heel” is only 1 inch, but they look like a heel, but wear like a comfy sandal.
Sporty women’s shoes that work for teaching

You may have noticed that I’ve mostly given up on finding business casual options to wear to work. Instead, I’ve decided to take advantage of our flexible dress code and wear sneakers to work most days. But if you want a stealthier option, the range of sporty ballet flat styles this season may be for you.
I’ve been wearing this pair for a month now, and they are the best of both worlds: arch support, no blisters, wear like a sneaker, look like a ballet flat. Yes, they are funky! But I like a funky shoe, and I get a lot of compliments on campus! If you have a wide foot, I would recommend this pair instead!
Those are my current recommendations for comfortable women’s shoes for teachers. If you have additional ideas, please share them with us in the comments. I’m always desperate!!
