Commute-friendly office clothes

Are you biking, walking, and taking the bus to campus? Then you know the challenges of finding commute-friendly office clothes, mainly, how can we create office outfits that are also not going to get caught in any spokes! If you are looking for women’s commute friendly office clothes that are up for the challenge of cycling or walking, I have some suggestions. Here are some business-activewear picks that are up to the challenge.

There are a few brands I like to look to for commute friendly office styles and commuter cycling clothing:

Athleta: Not just for leggings, Athleta has sweat-proof button down shirts, ponte pants, and sleek sweaters that can hold up to a day at the office. Their sweaters, in particular, look super nice but feel substantial, like they’ll really go the commuting distance! I have a zip up version of this and it gets so many compliments.

ADAY: An ethical fashion brand with a bunch of performance fabrics that are travel or commute-friendly. I’ve been pining over this mockneck top for about a year. Perfect for looking super polished even after a long commute. Their Turn it Up pants are also really nice, they’re moisture-wicking and I like the pleat detail! They did run a tad short on me but had plenty of room (about 4 inches) to let them out in the legs.

Land’s End: If you haven’t guess by now, the name of the game is to find activewear and outdoor gear companies that are also making a workwear line. Land’s End has several gorgeous dresses–this ponte version would be perfect for a true business or business casual office dress code. I also love the layering potential of this dress.

Old Navy: Old Navy and Athleta are owned by the same group. That means sometimes $100 Athleta pants look veryyyy similar to $20 Old Navy pants. Do with that info what you will. I have this pair of joggers and they look super cool, they could be dressed up into office style with a button down or blazer! This pair is also very Athleta-esque for a nice price.

Rains: Got rain on your commute? Rains makes stylish rain coats and waterproof bags. They are perfect for biking!

Universal Standard: Makes great basics in sizes 0-4XL. The Stephanie pant is particularly sturdy against wrinkles!

Wool&: Merino wool is actually an excellent commuting choice. Much less like the scratchy sweaters that wool calls to mind and more like a super moisture wicking fabric! Wool& makes dresses that feel soooo soft and smooth.

These are my recommendations for commute-friendly office clothes–what would you add? A few more posts that might be helpful:
