100 degree outfits

I have a really hard time figuring out what to wear when it’s 100 degrees out (or more). The truth is no outfit seems reasonable for extremely hot weather, and most sources of fashion inspo don’t account for these temperatures. So here are some outfits and closet essentials that I am actually wearing for high summer. Now updated for 2024!

Making interesting outfits when you can’t layer is so tough. Here are a few style tricks that can be fun:

Skorts! Skorts! Skorts!

I don’t know why I wasn’t wearing skorts earlier. They are PERFECT if you’re tall or don’t like worrying about a mini skirt. I have two now, and they are some of my most worn summer items–they’re so easy to swap out for regular shorts and add some interest to a plain t-shirt:

Gingham skort

Black skort

Scarf as top

I’ve been really into summer scarves this year, and I finally found a big enough one to make it into a makeshift tube top! This look does show a lot of back but it’s super cute when it’s extremely hot out. In this look I put it over my swimsuit to feel a bit more secure! I highly recommend going to the vintage store in person to pick this out!

Add fun belts

A belt is just about the only accessory that doesn’t add any warmth to an outfit, so it’s the perfect way to add dimension to your summer looks. Again, this is a great category to thrift! I found this ring belt secondhand, here are some other options:

Dress

Belt

Flip flops

More whimsical accessories

Summer is the perfect time to add accessories with more of a punch. I’m usually an accessory minimalist, but I’ve found myself picking more embellished and fun items to jazz up simple styles like this lightweight romper. Here are a few I love:

Fun belt bag

-Embellished sandals in silver and beige

-Quirky charm necklace

Finally, I like to add an extra glow when it’s hot out, and this blush (in “Not Too Much”) and highlighter combo has been my absolute favorite right now!

Stay cool out there, friends!
