Back to school shopping for stylish teacher clothes

Are you back to teaching in person and in need of some updated teacher outfit ideas for 2022? I know I’m not the only professor in this situation so I decided to do a bit of window shopping for updated trendy teacher outfits to give us all a boost. Here’s what I found…

Refresh your basics

Banana Republic has been upping their game in the last year and I found some good teaching clothes basics if yours could use a refresh. First, this mockneck because I just realized my beloved striped one is looking a little tired. Second, I always need work appropriate t-shirts (enough coverage, not clingy, substantial fabric) so these tees caught my eye.

Stay comfy

My resistance to pants with buttons is at an all-time high, I’m just not ready to go back to rigid jeans or anything similar! I recently rented a pair of pants just like this racing stripe pair and found them surprisingly polished at work–but the sporty vibe means they work just as well with white sneakers. Wide leg pants are also all the rage with the youths right now (and you know I live to impress my students) but are soooo comfy. This pair is just like the pair I reach for weekly.

Fun statements

Lately I’ve been focusing my closet upgrade money on blazers. They’re the top layer after all so they tend to be what people notice. This pink blazer is pretty ridiculous and I NEEEED IT. COS is pricey for me but they typically put things on sale for half off so I’ll circle back in April/May to see if this is marked down.

No one is more surprised than me that I just got a smocked blouse and love it? It’s feminine so it balances a lot of my favorite oversized items. This plaid one would look great with distressed or washed black jeans, the lug sole boots we all bought last year, or a pair of dress pants for a simple outfit.

Final touches

I just got these earrings for Christmas and love that they add some fun to any outfit. Because they are on a post I find them easier to slip my mask around than a true dangly earring. I also use January to refresh my bra drawer and have found this bra to be a perfect minimizer under button downs–at a surprisingly good price!

Hope the beginning of the semester goes well for everyone!
