This spring, I took a look around at our patio furniture and realized it was time for an upgrade. We had trashed two Adirondack chairs in a season and had a wicker bench that looked like a safety hazard. I asked the internet: Is there such a thing as patio furniture you can buy for life? Something truly durable, yet cool and retro-looking? That’s how I found Tupelo Goods, which makes brightly colored, funky outdoor furniture. Or so they say! Here is my Tupelo Goods review after 3 months of ownership.
First impressions of the Loop Chair

The Tupelo Goods loop chair was absolutely haunting my targeted ads. I had read some good reviews of Tupelo on Reddit in the BuyItForLife subreddit, which is all about buying high-quality things in every category. But could an $800 patio chair really be worth it?
I ordered two Loop chairs during their President’s Day weekend sale. I believe I saved about $100 per chair, which still made them wildly expensive, but it turns out all outdoor furniture is.
Tupelo Goods shipped our chairs the next day, and we had them at our door in under a week. They came in giant boxes with handles. Surprisingly, I could lift them and take them into the backyard myself. No assembly required.
Tupelo Goods complaints?!
I always Google a company’s complaints before ordering, especially if I’ve never heard of them. I didn’t see any complaints on the Better Business Bureau or anything, and I have no major concerns to share with you. But I do have two minor complaints to share:

First, within a month, the area around the handles of our chairs had these black dots on it. I tried to take a picture (above). It’s happening on both chairs. It’s possible that they absorbed some of the smoke and ash from our fire pit after a night nearby. This is not noticeable at all from a distance, and barely noticeable up close, but I was surprised to see it!
Second, these chairs are not for old people or anyone who has difficulty doing a squat. They are lowwww to the ground, and very lounge-y. I was surprised by how low to the ground they are when I saw them in person. They are comfy, but as a tall person, I wish they had a little bit more height. I really need to sit in them with my legs out, otherwise I simply don’t fit in the chair. So, I have no choice but to recline. Boo hoo.
Final verdict

Ultimately, I think these chairs are stylish and a good fit for our retro, mid-century modern home style. I will probably be back for more if I see another three-day weekend sale. I also want the cool side table. And the lounge chair. And then I just need to spend several thousand more dollars on a patio dining set, and I’ll be done! Lol.
That’s my full Tupelo Goods review. If you have bought anything from this company, I would love to hear what you think!
