Here’s a recap of what I loved last month!
Embrace the anti-uniform

The shortest month ever, and I leaned into uniform dressing. Every time a blogger says, “Do you have a uniform?” I think “uhh not really,” but it turns out I have an anti-uniform. Instead of thinking about things I like to wear, it’s easier to categorize things I have no tolerance for:
–No shoes that suck: As I said in January, I have to walk far this semester. Too far for “pretty comfy” shoes! They have to be perfect. Which is why the base of my uniform is sneakers. The Asics Gel-Kayano are the best, imo. But I can also attest to these Adidas sneaker flats now!!
-No tight waistbands: What has happened to jeans? They used to be my go-to, but I swear once we stopped skinny jeans we stopped stretch in denim. It’s a no for me. Step two of the uniform is loose trousers. I’ve been wearing these the most.
–No boob drama. Lol. If it’s a button-down, I have to watch out for popping buttons; if it’s a V-neck, I can’t sink into my desk chair in despair. Step three is a crew neck tee. I’m considering this one for spring!
You can see above how I started riffing on the rules of this uniform–a crewneck sweater or tank top, or a henley, or swapping sneakers for super comfy boots!
And then it was randomly 80 degrees in February, so I got to start thinking about what a spring uniform would look like:

I’m thinking it’s the season of the midi skirt, considering I own four or five that I rarely wear.

Finally, I tried the new Spanx suiting collection (gifted)! I tried their new wellsuited blazer and 360 wide leg pants, and I think they would make a great conference travel suit. Because they are stretchy, they arrived in the box entirely wrinkle-free! I also found my new fave work pants–the ponte pleated tapered pant. They look super chic but feel like sweatpants. I’m wearing the medium tall!
What I read and listened to

My book reading was a bust this month, send help!! I like: thrillers that aren’t too dumb, nonfiction deep dives by journalists, and literary fiction that contains zero cancer diagnoses. I did enjoy reading and listening to:
The Correspondent: Fiction. This was our book club book, and it reminded me how much I love documentation, writing, etc. I started a new garden journal right after reading!
Why are Peptides Everywhere: Podcast. This was an interesting deep dive into a trend I wasn’t following at all.
The Dyatlov Pass Incident: Podcast. Only for those who can handle a little gore while listening to a survival story!
Recipes for busy work days

Finally, someone suggested a recipe round-up for busy teaching days. I really enjoyed cooking this month, here were my best-of-best quick and easy recipes:
Chipotle cauliflower tacos: I’m kind of a HBH hater because the recipes don’t always work. In this one, making the avocado crema in the blender is a bust (not enough liquid) but if you mash the ingredients up you end up with a great accountrement to a really tasty taco recipe!
Lemon chicken soup: Book club agreed, this was incredible.
Lemon posset: A dessert to impress any potluck you attend! And so easy.
