If you’re looking for teacher clothes on a budget, Old Navy is an absolute go-to. I loved shopping them in grad school, I still love shopping them now as a professor. But Old Navy has some hits and misses–here are the hits I found fall fall 2025 back to school.
Best Trendy Teacher Clothes Picks

When I’m looking for trendy teacher clothes on a budget, I don’t always want to invest a great deal of money. This rugby shirt is an example of what Old Navy does best–trendier styles at affordable prices. This was 100% cotton and ran a bit big!

Here’s another cotton top that had cute fall style vibes for teachers. I did not like the sleeves, but I am very tall (and it does come in tall AND petite sizes online, up to size 4X). Otherwise, it ran true to size!

This denim dress would look super cute with boots for early fall teacher style feelings! It was quite short on me, and I think I would recommend the tall size to anyone who is looking for classroom appropriate vibes. But the dark denim and the seams down the front were nice details!

This canvas jacket has gone TikTok viral, so I simply had to try it. It was a nice lightweight, early-fall option, and I liked that it was black and brown (the gold standard color combo when packing, in my opinion!)
Tried and True Teacher Basics

The best teacher basic at Old Navy is, in my opinion, the Pixie Pants. They come in a ton of cuts, colors, and lengths, and they are just right when you need a work pant that is actually comfortable enough to sit at a desk all day. This is the flare version. I always recommend sizing up one size in these pants because they run tight!

This polo was also 100% cotton and felt so smooth! It reminded me of a lot of Abercrombie styles right now. Would be perfect with wide leg dress pants and sneakers for an easy teacher uniform!
The misses (?)

This dress was beautiful in photos but just felt pretty cheap in person, which leads me to my biggest word of caution about Old Navy: check the fabric content! The more fabrics involved and the more viscose, polyester, or rayon involved, the less elevated it will look, in my opinion. AND, if your classroom is hot, synthetic fabrics do not breath as well, so I do my best to avoid them.

This twinset seemed like a great idea, but the fabric was downright itchy. No thanks!
Those are my fave picks for teacher clothes on a budget, so far, for fall 2025! Where else do you shop? Here are some of my favorites:
