5 easy spring outfit ideas that worked this month

Do you track what you wear? For the past 500 days, I’ve been doing just that. At the end of each month, I like to look back on what I wore to determine the winners of the month. Here are 5 spring outfit ideas I felt great in this March!

If you thought “wait, what, I can track outfits?!” I do so in StyleBook–you can upload images of all your clothes (I just take retailer images that are close to what I own), enter the cost of each item, and then see what you wear the most, what pays off, etc! Here’s my March calendar:

When looking back at this month, I found a few spring outfit ideas I can’t wait to wear again:

A casual outfit that feels fashion

On so many casual days, I feel “bleh” leaving the house in athleisure. But in this bike shorts and sweatshirt combo, I felt great! I think it was the right mix of intentional accessories (my new Baggu bag is already climbing the most-worn list) and intentionally chosen athleisure (these bike shorts are the perfect shade of olive!).

Mix unusual neutrals

Spring is a time to lighten up, but winter neutrals can still be handy! Here I mixed olive, black, blush, and patent brown for a more interesting look.

Tee

Trousers

Flats

Bring out the brights!

wearing bright blue for spring

I wore so much more color this month to celebrate spring! One of my best colorful purchases this year was a bright blue chore jacket. It’s just as handy as the olive chore jacket we all bought in 2017 but feels fresh! Plus, they’re a vintage staple, so easy to find secondhand.

Striped tee (get 20% off with code PHDINTEES)

Trousers

Boots

Chill out the silhouette

On this day, I threw out the “if you’re wearing one slim thing, wear one oversized thing” rule and just went biiiig blazer biiig jeans. I think the silver flats snapped it all back into shape, and I felt very cool.

Blazer (old from Poshmark! Here’s a size 12 or here’s a linen option)

Tank

Jeans

Flats (on sale!)

The return of the spontaneous patio outfit

casual spring weekend outfit

There’s one category of spring outfit that I always need and forget about: the “omg it’s 70 out do you want to go to the brewery patio” outfit. This outfit needs to be simple, throw it on at a moment’s notice, and fun!

Denim dress (found mine at a garage sale for $1 but this is pretty close!)

Sneakers (similar and fun colors!)

Bag

I think these are my top 5 outfits because they capture that first nice day out feeling more than anything else. Aligning emotions of the season with outfits might be my (fairly obvious) trick!
