If you’re looking for a grad school graduation dress, I’m back with more options to shop this April! Shopping for a commencement dress can be tricky as a graduate student! I also find that every spring I am suddenly on the hunt for wedding guest dresses, and a lot of these would work for both types of spring events. Here’s what I found at the mall this week!
I started my search at Anthropologie because they make absolutely gorgeous spring dresses. They are not super budget-friendly, but graduation is a special day, so if you’re ever going to treat yourself, this seems like the time.
This corset dress was my absolute favorite find. I love the structure up top and the bright, celebratory colors. It also had pockets, which is so clutch for commencement because WHY do graduation robes not have pockets. WHY!
I tried an 8 in this and think you should size up 1 if you’re busty.
TBH, my Anthro options just weren’t doing it. I’m not sure if it’s a little too early for all the dresses to be out? They had many super casual options. But not so many “daytime dressy” choices.
I thought this satin maxi dress might work? It was much prettier than on the site and I found the colors really flattering. I feel like it would light you up in photos. I tried a large in this but should have picked my true size, a medium.
Next I went to Abercrombie, where I had much better luck. I’m wearing a medium in all of these and found the sizing to be quite consistent:
This bubble hem dress was so cute! Perfect for a retro feel for graduation. I also like that it plays on the white dresses for graduation tradition but with a twist.
I tried this ruched blue dress for a more casual option that you could absolutely wear again on vacation. I found it underwhelming but maybe with a better shoe choice!
This polka dot off-the-shoulder was the most formal dress I tried on. I actually thought it was a total winner for a wedding guest dress but maybe not so great as a grad school graduation dress because the off-the-shoulder could get fussy under a grad robe.
Finally, I tried this drop waist dress and I found it to be the winner of the shopping trip. I felt like it was so classy and felt the most…graduation-y. It also comes in many colors (yellow, pink, green) and it came with attachable straps so you wouldn’t have to fuss with it during a ceremony.
