If you’re experiencing that first dip into cold weather and suddenly staring at your closet looking for inspiration, me too. The seasonal change can really throw me off my style game, so today, I’m sharing easy winter work outfits for women! I have a lot of corduroy, twill, plaid, and cozy sweaters to show you, plus some layering tips, right this way!
This post features items in collaboration with Mata Traders, a fair trade, ethical fashion company! I am so excited to be working with them both because they provide fair trade items and many beautiful, work-friendly styles! Here are a few winter work outfits for women that I styled with their items:
Winter shirtdress styling

I absolutely love a shirtdress but often forget about styling work dresses for winter temps–brown tights have been a game changer for me in this area! I love pairing them with brown boots as a perfect neutral base for just about any dress in my closet, but they look especially Gilmore Girls fall with a plaid twill shirtdress.
Another little styling change up: I doubled up the fabric belt here and just tied it in a little knot in the back. That’s been my go-to lately when I’m bored of just tying a bow in front!
Style a warm color for the office

When the sun hides away, I suddenly find myself wearing all black, but winter layers do not have to be gloomy! I love channeling warmth in the colors I choose, and this pair of red corduroy pants definitely fits the bill! I would style them with layers of brown, gray, or cream.
A quick aside to say: Mata’s pants are nice and tall friendly! They come in a shorter inseam but have a lot of fabric in the seam allowance. This pair I’m wearing is altered to a 34-inch inseam, which is a dream for me (and my concern for freezing ankles).
Mix neutrals for a professional look

If you’re ever concerned about whether something is professional enough for the office, mix neutrals! Navy and black together is a sure-fire way to look chic and serious (unless you’re wearing cowboy boots, heh). This corduroy midi skirt outfit combines navy with a winter layering go-to, the black turtleneck. From there, I piled on the silver jewelry, and could add tights for cold weather!
I basically shamelessly swiped this outfit idea from Copenhagen fashion week. If anyone knows how to be cold but look cool, it’s Scandinavians!
The easiest office outfit layer

One thing I forget when picking winter office outfits is that it’s often as freezing inside as it is outside (in half the building, in the other half it’s entirely too warm). Indoor layering is also necessary to deal with temperature fluctuations! Here, I styled a plaid cotton button up open over a cotton turtleneck. This provides plenty of breathability, and plenty cozy when I’m cold at my desk!
I also love to add a little shine to my winter outfits, so I picked patent loafers. With a fun gray sock, I think they would look very geek-chic!
Tips for casual winter work outfits

Corduroy pants are a nice winter work item because they can be styled business casual or more casual! I like the texture they bring to any outfit, and here I pumped that up with a fuzzy sweater. Do you wear sneakers in the winter? When the ground is dry, I find them to be a welcome break from boots (with a long sock when necessary!).
I’ve been wearing a lot more navy as a neutral lately, so these navy corduroy pants were a fun addition to my winter work wardrobe. I love navy with pops of red, but also with brown, burgundy, gray, silver, and olive!
