Burrow couch review: Honest thoughts on the Burrow Nomad sofa

Burrow couch review

If you’re shopping for a couch online, you’ve probably come across Burrow. I read so many reviews of couches before finally committing to one, so it’s time I share a Burrow couch review! If you have questions about durability, comfort, and if it’s really cat proof, I have some thoughts below.

Is the Burrow couch durable?

If you’re about to drop serious dollars on a couch, it’s reasonable to wonder if it will hold up well. We have had our Nomad sofa (in this combo) for 2 years, and so far, it looks great! It hasn’t sagged at all, and the fabric still looks great. This is a highlight of Burrow, for me: if you need a couch that can handle a bunch of sitting and still keep its shape, it’s a great choice.

Is it comfortable?

Umm, ok, not to be the bearer of bad news, but we haven’t been super impressed with how comfy and cozy our Burrow couch is. It is…not squishy. You will not sink into it. It’s not a “cozy up” couch. This has been a big bummer because we spend a lot of time on the couch. However, I can see where it could be useful if you want a couch that will stay looking good for a long time. I would say…it’s a useful living room couch if you have a den. And that’s where you put the squishy couch.

Is the Burrow couch really cat proof?

YES! We have an excellent and trustworthy product tester for this. She is 10 pounds and a menace, with a track record of already destroying one couch. But she hasn’t destroyed the Nomad, nor has she really tried. I read that the velvet fabric is especially a deterrent because cats don’t like to scratch it. Our cat tried a couple times, but it’s clearly not satisfying to her. With a couple scratching posts around the house, she hasn’t been tempted to try it again.

What other couches should I consider?

I polled my Instagram friends extensively before buying a couch, so I really got a good rundown on how much people like their trendy internet couches. Here are some others they suggested to me, plus the pros and cons:

  • Interior Define Asher couch: 3 instafriends told me this couch holds up quite well. They also told me the couch seats velcro in place, which is actually more useful than you think. But one person told me their delivery got significantly delayed (without updates from the company). I read a couple more stories about this via Reddit, but most of them seem to have occurred in 2020.
  • Joybird Holt: 2 of my friends have and LOVE this couch. There are some internet comments about durability and quality issues. I ultimately didn’t pick it because it’s low to the ground and we’re very tall people.
  • Albany Park corner sectional: I couldn’t find as much info about this one, but one instafriend said it’s not that comfy.
  • Sabai sectional: No one I knew had personal experience with this one, but it seems to be one of the only ethically made options. Update: My friend Leah posted a review of this sofa here!
  • Inside Weather Bondi couch: People said that this was extremely durable. Some people didn’t like the back cushions but said the memory foam cushions were better.

There are so many couches on the internet. I hope this Burrow couch review has helped if you’re in the market. We are moderately satisfied with the Nomad but will probably pick something cushier eventually. Would love to hear your thoughts if you’ve found The One.

  1. I have a Sabai couch. It’s pretty good quality, but there are some quality control issues with the way the front beam attaches to the sides. I wrote a review on my blog.

  2. I saw they have a new Plus comfort option.
“Triple-layer plush foam for our softest seat”. Is your couch standard or did the Plus fail on “cozy”?
