An unsponsored Jolie shower head review

Jolie shower head review

Are you looking for a Jolie shower head review before you consider buying it? Well, not that you asked, but I bought the Jolie filter shower head 3 months ago, so here are my honest thoughts about how it impacts hair loss and hard water filtering!

We remodeled our bathroom in December and had a major complaint about our last shower head: hard water stains. Everywhere. We live in a desert, which means a lot of minerals in our water. Good for our teeth (my dentist always compliments), but annoying for cleaning the glass of the shower.

So when it came time to choose a shower head, I got sucked in by all the influencer endorsements and bought the Jolie shower head without actually reading a single Jolie shower head review. It comes in 5 finishes, we picked the brushed gold.

That after tho!! This is incredibly niche but if you are doing a bathroom remodel you’ll need a shower handle and pipe to match, this one matched the gold finish pretty well!

What are the benefits of the Jolie shower head?

The website claims that the Jolie: filters chlorine and other hard metals, improves dry skin and damaged hair. I didn’t buy it for that purpose, though, so I basically forgot about that promise until I started washing my hair in the new shower. My hair became incredibly soft–and I completely hated it. Did it feel better? Sure. But it got greasy faster and my scalp became itchy.

A quick search of Reddit revealed that many people have similar reactions when they get a water softener, and that a shampoo/conditioner change may be in order. I switched from my bougie sulfate-free shampoo (which is pretty gentle) to a generic Costco option and that improved things dramatically. The shower head may be expensive, but my shampoo and conditioner use just got much cheaper because now I use (gasp) boy shampoo.

Does the Jolie shower head improve hair loss?

Ok, this was not something I cared about when I bought it, but YES, I do shed less hair now. I notice it when I shower and in between showers. My husband’s hair also looks fluffier, and I would say it brings out any waves or curls in your hair.

Does it prevent hard water stains?

For the lazy among us, at last: the reason I bought it. Yes, yes, yes. This shower head has made a huge difference in hard water stains in my shower. I find that I have to clean the shower glass less, and it requires less elbow grease.

Is it worth it?

Final verdict: The Jolie may be worth it if you are concerned about hair shedding. It’s definitely worth it if you’re tired of hard water stains. It’s probably not worth it if you don’t want another thing to track (you have to replace the shower head every 3 months) or are trying to reduce recurring expenses. But it works for us because we don’t have room for a water softener!

A final note: if you have a complicated shower head that doesn’t just have a pipe sticking out of the wall with a shower head screwed on, you’ll need a plumber to install this. It worked during our bathroom remodel, but we would need to replace the whole shower head system in our other bathroom to make it work!
